Learn effective methods for designing, developing and implementing the three layers needed for event planning.

This topic will focus on the three levels of planning for major events. When planning major events, you have to consider a broad base of risks; from natural disasters, technology disasters, and manmade events. Today those include financial considerations, threats of terrorism and other forms of disruption. We hear a lot about events that challenge our ability to identify and manage risk. What this means is that event planners need to be even more vigilant in their prosecution of risk management initiatives. Event planning operations are complex and becoming more complex as more issues need to be addressed with fewer and fewer available resources at an ever-quickening pace. Unpredictability is the new normal. Ask yourself, ‘Am I asking the right questions? Or, am I asking questions that give me ‘false positives' about how well I have planned for this major event?'

Throughout this course you will learn:

  • Analysis, planning and organizing techniques
  • Effective methods for keeping up momentum and critical decision-making processes
  • Techniques for problem diagnosis
  • Techniques for ‘Active Analysis' to more readily understand wider aspects of a situation, gain clarity and provide effective communication for decision-making
  • Design, implement and manage vulnerability and consequence analysis
  • Design, develop and implement the three layers of plans needed for event planning today
  • Facilitate ‘crisis management' meetings, projects and crisis situations
  • Foster collaboration among diverse professionals and separate groups
  • Develop an appreciation of some key legal considerations
  • Design, develop and implement effective Command, Control and Communications structures
  • Respond to, and manage difficult situations
  • Develop poise and confidence in managing multi-jurisdictional teams
  • Demonstrate the interpersonal skills critical to management and leadership
